acne-scar-removalLaser resurfacing is a treatment to reduce facial wrinkles and skin irregularities, such as blemishes or acne scars.

The technique directs short, concentrated pulsating beams of light at irregular skin, precisely removing skin  layer by layer. This popular procedure is also called lasabrasion, laser peel, or laser vaporization.

CO2 Laser Skin resurfacing has been used for years to treat different skin issues, including wrinkles, scars, warts, enlarged oil glands on the nose, and other conditions.

The newest version of CO2 laser resurfacing uses very short pulsed light energy (known as ultrapulse) or continuous light beams that are delivered in a scanning pattern to remove thin layers of skin with minimal heat damage. Recovery takes up to 5 days.

The result is completely new skin with new collagen formation and new elastic tissue but without all of the flaws of the old skin. You will see tightening of the skin with a reduction in wrinkles, pigmentation, sun damage and other skin imperfections such as acne scarring, age spots, sunspots and melasma.

The other big advantage with the CO2 Fractional Laser Treatment is that it can be used anywhere on the body where previous lasers were restricted to treating the face only. Now we can obtain a dramatic change in the skin on any part of the body to improve conditions present in superficial and deeper layers of the skin including the abdomen where crinkly skin can develop after pregnancy.

How does it work?
CO2 Fractional Laser Treatment causes tiny dot, or pixel-like damage to treated areas in the skin, leaving most of the surrounding skin intact. New collagen is produced via the injury to the dermis, which helps reduce the appearance of lines and wrinkles, scarring & acne. CO2 Fractional Laser treatment allows the skin to heal much faster than if the whole area was treated, as the healthy, untreated tissue surrounding the treated tissue acts as a natural bandage whilst the treated area heals. Fractional laser treatment can be performed using topical anesthesia, or nerve blocks and chilled air. Treatment takes about 30 minutes, depending on the size of the area(s) being treated.

How many treatments will I need?
Improvements can be seen with every treatment, but 1 – 3 treatments depending on the skin type and condition of the area to be treated

When can I see results?
Results are both immediate and progressive, with noticeable beneficial effects over 5 days.

What should I expect after my laser treatment?
You will feel a burning sensation on the skin immediately after the laser treatment which can last from 1 – 2 hours. Depending on the intensity of the treatment you will experience redness and crusting on the treated area for 3-5 days.

Treatment Of Acne Scars
CO2 Fractional Skin Resurfacing is extremely effective in treating depressed acne scarring. 2-3 treatments will result in 50 – 75% improvement in depressed acne scarring for most people.
